Ahoy there, Regina!
Welcome aboard planDisney! A 5-night Very Merrytime
sailing on the Destiny sounds like a holly-jolly way to kick off the holiday season with your family. There is something extra special about seeing a Disney ship transformed for the holidays. From the moment you step into the Grand Hall, it will feel like you’ve arrived at a North Pole celebration hosted by Mickey himself.
The great news is that your Very Merrytime cruise will absolutely be filled with holiday cheer and festive décor. There is actually another
Very Merrytime sailing scheduled prior to the dates you mentioned, and that sailing will be the first fully decorated holiday cruise of the season. Typically, the transformation begins during the sailing right before that first Very Merrytime cruise so the ship can debut its full holiday look as soon as that first sailing of the season begins.
It is honestly pretty amazing how quickly the crew can transform the ship. One day the ship might still be sailing with
Halloween on the High Seas decorations, and before you know it the pumpkins disappear faster than Oogie Boogie after sunrise and just a few days later the ship is suddenly glowing with garlands, sparkling trees, and festive touches everywhere you look. The crew truly has the decorating process down to a science.
My crew and I have sailed on quite a few Very Merrytime cruises over the years, and it quickly became one of our favorite seasonal traditions. One of the best parts is simply wandering through the ship and soaking in the atmosphere. Grabbing a cup of hot cocoa, enjoying cookies in the Grand Hall, and listening to holiday music while the giant holiday tree sparkles nearby is the kind of moment that just feels like pure Disney magic.
You will also want to keep an eye on your
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app once you’re onboard because it will list all the special holiday activities happening throughout the sailing. You might find festive character meet-and-greets, holiday-themed shows, tree lighting moments, and even a visit from Santa himself. And since this will be the first Very Merrytime season for the Destiny, you’ll be among the first Guests to experience whatever unique holiday touches Disney has planned for the ship. Who knows, maybe even Cruella will trade her usual mischief for a little seasonal sparkle.
I hope this helps as you plan your festive voyage. Very Merrytime sailings have a way of turning an already magical cruise into something that feels straight out of a holiday storybook. Before long you’ll be strolling through a ship filled with twinkling lights, festive music, and enough Christmas spirit to make even Scrooge McDuck crack a smile.
Sea ya real soon as springtime magic begins to ripple across the water,
Dustin
