After dealing with a lot of snow in PA this winter, we are taking a long weekend in March, staying for first time at WL villas, with 11, 8, 5, 5 year old kids, first trip not getting park tickets. Suggestions on what to do, while staying close to WL?

    Hi Lisa,

I hear you about the snow.  An escape to Walt Disney World sounds wonderful.  I really like your idea to go for a long weekend, and there is so much to do at Walt Disney Word even without ever stepping foot in a theme park!  Your location at The Villas at Wilderness Lodge is going to put you in a great position to do so much.

There are lots of recreation opportunities at The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge.  Take a look at the recreation guide that you are given when you first check in to see what events are happening at Disney's Wilderness Lodge while you are there.  You could also explore the many rental possibilities at Disney's Wilderness Lodge - you can rent bikes, surrey bikes, and even watercraft.

I also suggest that you explore Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort.  From The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, you can take a boat ride, or even walk, to Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort.  There are so many recreation opportunities at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort - from horseback riding for your oldest child to pony rides for the little ones, there is a ton to do.

Finally, consider a tour of the monorail resorts.  From The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, take a boat ride to Disney's Contemporary Resort.  From there, you are just a monorail ride away from Disney's Polynesian Resort and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.  You can spend a day going from resort to resort.  Grab a quick-service meal, walk on a beach, and generally enjoy exploring what these resorts have to offer.

I would love to help you plan further Lisa; however, I am limited in the space that I have to answer.  Please do come back if you have any further questions!
