What’s the deal with reservations? I’ve been to Disneyland a few times, but this is the first time I plan the trip myself. Do I need reservations to get into the park? I’ve no idea how they work! Please help!

Greetings, Mauro, and welcome to planDisney. Solo trips at the parks are always a blast – you can experience attractions, watch shows, and explore the various dining options at your own pace! So, let's talk about how to get you all set up for your adventure!

To enter a Disneyland Resort theme park, all Guests (ages three and up) need both a valid ticket and a park reservation. Your ticket will ultimately allow you to pass through the gates at the main entrance. However, for your ticket to be used, it must be paired with a park reservation, which indicates the date you will visit. Think of the park ticket as a car and the reservation as the key that turns it on – you need both for the car to go.

Mauro, if you purchase your tickets directly from the Disneyland website or mobile app, you'll select your park reservation date as part of the process. By the time you finish checking out, you’ll be all set! I recommend purchasing your tickets and securing your reservation as early as possible to ensure you get the dates you want.

Need to change your reservation date? It’s easy! Sign into your Disney account on the Disneyland website or the app and make sure your tickets are linked. If you're using the website, visit the Theme Park Tickets and Reservations page to make any adjustments. On the app, tap the plus (+) icon at the bottom navigation bar and tap "Make a Park Reservation."

Mauro, I have some exciting news: when you visit in July, the Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration will be in full swing! The Resort will become even more vibrant with limited-time entertainment, colorful decorations, specialty food and drinks, collectible merchandise, and more! Plus, the highly anticipated return of the Paint the Night Parade, featuring over a million dazzling lights, is a nighttime spectacular you won't want to miss.

Some of my favorite activities for a solo day include: Animation Academy, riding attractions through the Single Rider entrances, riding the Disneyland Railroad around the park, trading pins, and exploring the shops! You can also use the Disney PhotoPass Service to get some great photos of yourself in front of iconic backdrops, like Sleeping Beauty Castle, or with beloved characters, like Mickey Mouse.

If you have any other questions ahead of your trip, please reach out, Mauro! We are always happy to help here at planDisney.

    Wishing you magic,
