On the DDP can one person in your party substitute an appetizer instead of the dessert? Is the Sana’a bread service considered an appetizer?

    Hi, there!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Ashlee. We're glad to see you again!

I just love the Disney Dining Plan. It's a must-do for my family's Disney vacations because it's super convenient and flexible! It's possible that someone on the Disney Dining Plan can substitute a dessert for an appetizer, but it depends on the dining location. When a dessert is swapped out for an appetizer, it's usually for limited items on the appetizer menu like a fruit plate, side salad, or cup of soup. If you'd like to substitute a dessert for an appetizer, simply ask your server if the substitution is permitted. In my experience, my servers have always been knowledgeable about the Disney Dining Plan and potential substitutions on the menu!

Sanaa is my family's absolute favorite restaurant at the Walt Disney World Resort. We never miss an opportunity to dine there when we're on vacation! We also never miss the opportunity to order the Indian-style Bread Service. With the choice of five breads and nine accompaniments, there's something on the platter to please every palate! The Indian-style Bread Service is listed on the appetizer menu at Sanaa, but I think it would be an unlikely substitution for a dessert on the Disney Dining Plan. It certainly never hurts to ask your server about, though! My family loves the Indian-style Bread Service so much that we always just pay out-of-pocket for that item while using our meal entitlements for our entrées and desserts. You can bet we always leave Sanaa with full and happy bellies!

Your January visit is the perfect time to check out the Epcot International Festival of the Arts. This celebration of the visual, performing, and culinary arts is not to be missed! Keep an eye out for some creative snacks there that you can use your Snack entitlements for!

I hope this was helpful, Ashlee. Please visit us again soon with any new questions you may have about your Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
