With the DDP what is considered a "snack"?

    Hi, Karen!

    Great question!

Essentially, an item that can be purchased for a "Snack" entitlement on the various Disney Dining Plans at Walt Disney World is usually a non-protein-based item which sells for under $5 (subject to change) at many locations throughout the parks. This could be as simple as a bottle of water or as delectable as a carrot cake cookie (double-decker, as large as my fist, and filled with a sweet cream cheese layer that's indescribably good. And I'm not even a carrot cake fan) or a confectioner's sugar-coated freshly made (warm!) funnel cake. Yum and yum.

The trick with utilizing your entitlements on a Disney Dining Plan is to get items which are really a treat, such as a delicious chocolate croissant for a quick breakfast on the go, or a set of custom-made, chocolate-dipped pretzel rods, made to your order. (Or a jalapeno cheese-stuffed soft pretzel, or a two-scoop waffle cone, or chocolate-filled crepes...) As you can imagine, there are many options, most of which fall under the $5 range as well as  non-protein based. (The exception to this non-protein thing is special creations during the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival.)

For an unofficial list of snacks on the Dining Plan at WDW, check out a great site, DisneyFoodBlog.com, and enter "snacks" into their search bar. You'll find lots of recent posts on additions to the list of snacks Guests have tried while using their snack entitlements.

Send more questions about this or any other WDW topic; we love to help!
