We have the DDP & are becoming concerned about the QS opts for our 7 yr old. He won't eat PBJ or nuggets. Can he get a child's size portion of an adult QS meal anywhere? or do we have to use the DDP for our meals & pay separate for an adult meal

    Hi Kristina!

I do understand picky eaters, as my son (age 5) definitely qualifies in this category. Incredibly finicky, to the point that some chicken nuggets (which he normally likes) don't get one bite if it smells funny, not crispy enough, etc. ...sigh...

Unfortunately, quick service restaurants that have children's menus will enforce that your child select from the child's menu for their plate. But not all quick service restaurants have a children's menu, which, in those cases, you are free to order anything the same as an adult, but still only pay the child plate price. Casey's Corner at Magic Kingdom, for example, is a quick service with no children's menu.

What our family does a lot at quick service is approach it "family style." We will try to order each plate with meals that everyone in the family can enjoy, then when we sit down we split or swap off portions based on preference. Hopefully, there's something on the children's meal menu that someone at the table can enjoy, or , I might find myself splitting my portion with son and eating some of those "soggy" nuggets he doesn't like :-)

The only time I look to pay out of pocket is if there's something your child absolutely must have, and Mom and Dad are unable to get on their plate, or split. Otherwise, I do what I can to maximize the money I invested in the Dining Plan as best as possible.

Best of Wishes to you! And hope you and child find many meals that are pleasant to eat!
