Hi there Sarah, I'd like to wish you a warm welcome aboard here at planDisney!
It's always so great to hear stories of families returning time and time again on Disney Cruise Line vacations; from the sounds of it, your daughter has enjoyed spending time in the care of the dedicated Nursery Counselor team in spaces on board like
“it’s a small world” nursery! Having lived and worked on board for many years, I've personally observed so many of our
youngest sailors with special needs thrive in these secure programming settings as they've transitioned to spaces like
Disney's Oceaneer Club with perhaps a little extra encouragement on their first experience.
I spoke with a Disney Cruise Line Cast Member who let me know that the age policy as it pertains to the youth spaces on board is firm and there are few exceptions, if any that cannot be guaranteed. They recommend calling the
Disney Cruise Line Special Services line directly in the meantime and review the official
Youth Activities Information for guests with an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
What I would recommend to set a course for the best chance of success is to take advantage of the scheduled Open House sessions early in your voyage so that you can have your daughter engage with the spaces and the Counselors; this is a great opportunity to speak with a member of the onboard Youth Activities management team and have them observe her in the space while you discuss what options they might suggest for the remainder of your voyage. (I've seen some wonderful managers find solutions and work with families in the best interest of each child and their unique needs so it's always worth requesting a chat!) Be sure to
come back to planDisney again for any more advice ahead of your next adventure!
Wishing you all another wonderful voyage on the shimmering seas!
Prince
