My dd5 is 44in for next trip May. She is not afraid of any rides, Space Mt will be a first but concerned about riding alone. Can she ride with sibling in same seat? Thx

    Hi Andrea ~

I love watching my boys grow up at Disney and its so much fun when they ride a ride for the first time. Space Mountain is one those rite of passage rides. You really want that first experience to be a good one because not only is it a roller coaster but its completely in the dark.

Back when Space Mountain first opened, two riders were able to sit in the same seat. Now each ride vehicle holds 3 riders (1 per seat) and there are 2 ride vehicles attached to each other for a total of 6 riders. All riders sit in a line behind each other. You could put your 5 year old daughter just in front of a sibling so that her sibling could talk to her as they go through the ride. Just make sure they are in the same section of the ride vehicle. The first time my youngest son rode Space Mountain, he was in the last seat in the front section and I was in the front seat of the last section. There is a larger gap between the ride vehicles and I couldn't touch him and he couldn't hear me as well. He wasn't a very happy camper.

You can see pictures of attraction vehicles on the website AllEars.net. Under the tab for "Walt Disney World", select "Theme Parks". On the left side of the screen, you'll see "Attraction Info". Click on "Attraction Seating Photo Gallery" and then look for Space Mountain. That will give you an idea of the seating so you'll know how to prepare your daughter.
