Hi my dh, dd who is 4 and myself are booked at por in Feb for 9 days ..was thinking about upgrading and doing the akl instead...is it really worth all the extra money ..for a deluxe..its our first trip and won't be back for awhile...its a hard decision

    Hi there, Melanie!

Full disclosure: Of all of the Moderate-class Resort hotels at Walt Disney World, the Port Orleans sister hotels are my favorites!

That said, I would ask you to weigh the amount of time that you'll really be spending in the room. Admittedly, the Deluxe Resort hotels are, as you might imagine, exquisitely themed and very well-appointed. But if you are planning on spending the majority of your time in the Parks and at the pools, then a Moderate will be perfectly fine.

With a four-year old, you might be taking a midday break to head back to the hotel for some down time. At that point, you will want a comfortable bed (which both of the hotels on your list offer), or a great pool with a slide (which both of the hotels on your list offer).

My immediate recommendation to you is to really try in advance to get a sense of the amount of time you'll be spending n the room. From there, you can determine your desire to upgrade. But I have stayed at Moderate Resorts many, many times with a travel party of four, and have found them to be excellent choices for my needs.

    Have a wonderful trip!

    See you later, celebrator,
    -Deborah B.
