Hi Karen,
Thank you so much for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. I have an 8-year-old daughter who, like yours, has been to Walt Disney World many times. It is wonderful that you are looking for something new and special to do for your daughter's 9th birthday. I have a couple of ideas for you based on your description of your daughter.
Since she is athletic and loves animals, I recommend the
Wild Africa Trek. This three-hour journey is fun and exciting. I was recently able to experience this and I had an amazing time trekking across bridges above Kilimanjaro Safaris and seeing animals from hippopotamuses to crocodiles up close. Trek size is limited to 12 guests and you have two knowledgeable tour guides, so your daughter could ask loads of questions about the animals. The minimum age for the Wild Africa Trek is 8 years old, so your daughter would be among the youngest, but if she is up for adventure, I think she would really enjoy it. You can book the Wild Africa Trek by calling (407) WDW - TOUR (407-939-8687).
Another thought, since your daughter is not a princess fan but loves adventure, is to have her become a pirate. You can visit
The Pirates League at Magic Kingdom, where she can be transformed into a pirate. Not only will she have a pirate makeover, but she will also get a pirate name and pirate training. You can make reservations at The Pirates League by calling (407) 939-2739.
I hope this gives you some ideas for celebrating your daughter's birthday, Karen. Have a wonderful time planning your vacation, and please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
