1st DCL May 2013-DVC BLT our home. I understand booking-just curiious how booking 1 night then cruise-then 2 nights will work out. I am sure common w/ DVC! @ 7mth would like to try non home! Can you wait list even for night or two (if not extrending trip)?

    Hello, Denise!

Congratulations on taking your first Disney Cruise Line cruise using your Disney Vacation Club Membership! We've done just that many times in the past, and look forward to dividing our points up so that we get the best of both the land and the sea! Great idea!

We've also stayed at Walt Disney World both before and after our DCL cruise; booking your DVC reservation for one night, then the cruise, then another night is very common. Member Services will have no problem accommodating your needs when you give them a call. Not to worry!

We've used our DVC Membership to book at both the Home Resort 11-month window, as well as a non-Home Resort 7-month window and have been really very lucky every time. Because the cruise date isn't flexible, consider having a backup resort when calling at the 7-month window for the resort component, just in case your first choice isn't available. Depending on the popularity of the resort, and the day of the week, for example, you may have no problem at all getting your first choice. If, however, you need to book a second choice resort, by all means ask the Cast Member assisting you about wait listing as well. We've asked to wait list three times in the past, booked a second-choice resort and, later, were moved to our first choice resort on two of those occasions.

Keep in mind that if you call EXACTLY on the date when the 7-month window opens, you'll be far more likely to get your first choice than if you had waited.

Let me know if you have any additional questions about this; I'd love to help you feel most confident about booking your Disney Vacation Club trip!  What fun!
