Hello; we are going on DCL may Alaska Disney Magic cruise; we keep getting mixed answers; are we getting a frozen night?replacing pirate night? And why is Ketchikan stop hours cut?

Ahoy there, Alejandra! Welcome back to planDisney!

Your Alaskan cruise aboard the Disney Magic is fast approaching, and I’m so excited for you! Before you know it, you’ll be staring at an actual glacier that Captain Mickey navigates you through!

Right after sailing through that breathtaking glacier, you’ll sail over to Ketchikan. I see that you have some questions about Ketchikan and the activities aboard your cruise, and I’d be happy to answer them.

I reached out to Disney Cruise Line, and it was verified that your cruise will not have a Frozen or a Pirate Night. However, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t enough fun to be had on board, because there is plenty! There are so many activities taking place on board every evening that you’re going to have to divide and conquer your time to tackle some of your favorites on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App! Some of my favorite nightly activities are watching the Broadway-style shows in the Walt Disney Theater and catching as many trivia and karaoke sessions as I can! (I love the bragging rights that come with those medals when I get back home!) Not to mention the late-night movies that are playing in the Buena Vista Theater

When asking about the shorter duration for your Port of Call at Ketchikan, I was told that it could be for several reasons, including but not limited to the length of time it takes to sail from the Stikine Icecap Glacier, the conditions of the sea during this part of the voyage, etc. If it helps, I’ve been on sailings where a Port of Call day was a bit shorter than others, and, in my experience, it never affected how great our day ashore was at all! In fact, it gave us a bit more time at breakfast that morning, so we weren’t rushing to get ashore, and it also helped us prioritize our favorite Port Adventures and activities once ashore.

Speaking of Port Adventures, I hope you have yours picked out, because there are so many incredible ones in Alaska! With the stunning landscape and the chance to get up close and personal with so much wildlife that we can usually only dream about (like real whales!), you're in for some amazing experiences! I highly suggest booking those Port Adventures early if you haven’t already done so, as Alaskan Port Adventures are super popular. Lastly, make sure to take lots of photos, because you’re definitely going to want proof of all of these once-in-a-lifetime adventures!

Alejandra, I hope I was able to offer clarification. I wish you the most MAGICal memories on board your cruise! Please sail back to planDisney if you have any more questions.

    Bon Voyage,
