I see that DCL has added an allergy friendly cake to their onboard gifts store. Is this the only way I can get an allergy friendly dessert for my son onboard or will there be similar options at each rotational dining location?

    Ahoy Kathryn!

We are so glad you stopped back by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with yet another excellent question!

Disney Cruise Line does an outstanding job of accommodating Guests’ needs, especially when it comes to dietary restrictions and allergies. Since my daughter has a peanut allergy, we want to be assured of her safety and comfort, especially while on an adventure at sea! Sounds like you are just as vigilant for your son and want to make sure he has some options when you cruise with Captain Mickey.

This question takes the cake...literally! So happy that Onboard Gifts now has both an allergy-friendly cake and cupcakes available. These selections are for Guests with allergies to gluten/wheat, egg, fish/shellfish, milk, peanuts/tree nuts and/or soy. Please note that Disney Cruise Line does not have separate kitchens to prepare allergen-free items or separate dining areas for Guests with allergies or intolerances. Cake orders must be placed at least 7 days prior to sail date, and all other orders must be placed no later than 3 days before embarkation.

I would recommend that you contact Disney Cruise Line or your travel agent to have any allergies noted on your reservation. They will then make sure your rotational dining team knows about your son's allergies or food restrictions. Your servers will provide recommendations for what is safe on the menus or offer alternate choices. Depending on the ship, some of them even have allergy-friendly menus that include some really delicious dessert choices like Chocolate Fudge Brownie and Raspberry and Cream Cake! So it will be one SWEET cruise for him because he will have some safe choices in desserts.

Generally, those with food allergies and dietary needs are best accommodated at table service restaurants instead of the quick service spots. And since your rotational dining team travels with you to a new dining room each night, they will continue to be aware of your son's allergies. If an allergy is quite severe or life-threatening, contact Disney Cruise Line's Special Services team before you sail or complete and submit the Special Services Information form

Kathryn, chart a course for the Disney Parks Moms Panel as you continue making your cruise plans. Those are waters we are always happy to navigate with you!

    Happy Sailing!
