Hey, Natalie! This is going to be an epic adventure for you and your family.
The first thing I want you to remember is that you won’t be able to experience all of the Disney magic in one trip. My best advice is to soak in every moment and not stress over what you might miss. There’s truly so much to see and do that it’s impossible to cover it all, but that just means there’s always something new to look forward to next time.
You’re giving your family a really magical taste of Disney, even in a short trip! Since you’ve only got 1.5 days, the key is going to be prioritizing what matters most to your boys (and you!).
For your full day at
Magic Kingdom, I’d start early. Rope drop, which means getting there before the park opens, makes a huge difference. The crowds are low and the temperature is great. Head straight to a big headliner that your boys will love, like
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Big Thunder Mountain, or it's a small world. Since it’s their first time, I’d suggest leaning into the classics: Dumbo, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, and of course, meeting Mickey in Town Square.
Don’t miss the parade, as it’s a perfect break and so much fun for kids. It gives all of you a chance to see your favorite Disney pals dance down Main Street U.S.A.
While you're waiting for the parade, grab a Mickey ice cream sandwich or some popcorn.
For your half day at Hollywood Studios, think about what’s most important for your boys. If they love
Star Wars, Galaxy’s Edge will be the highlight. Be sure to try to get on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run or
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Toy Story Land is another big win.
Slinky Dog Dash and Toy Story Mania are great fun.
I’d recommend purchasing
Lightning Lanes for Magic Kingdom since you’ve only got one day and there’s a lot to cover. For Hollywood Studios, it depends. If you really want to ride the big ones, it can help, but with a half day you may just focus on a few must-dos and arriving early is always a good idea to knock out those top attractions before the crowds arrive.
Most importantly, soak it in. Take breaks for snacks, let the boys pick a special treat, and don’t stress about doing everything. Even in a short trip, the magic will shine through.
Once you arrive at Magic Kingdom, stop by and ask a Cast Member for a First Visit button. It’s a fun keepsake, and sometimes it even brings a little extra pixie dust your way.
Natalie, please stop by and see me again if you have specific questions about attractions or dining options. I'm happy to help you plan every detail!
Toodles,
Korliss
