Hello! 7 days till our big trip! You recently answered a question that addressed getting the most from your dining plan specific to snacks. Do dole whips and funnel cakes count? Any other suggestions? Thanks for all the great advice!

    Hello, Lynn!

Getting the most out of your snack credits is a combination of art and science! :-)

First of all, you'll be happy to know that a Dole Whip does count as a snack credit on the Dining Plan (YUM!)

For funnel cakes' eligibility for the DP, it will depend on where you purchase them. I visited the American Pavilion at Epcot just over a week ago, funnel cakes were NOT available as a snack on the DP. (A good indicator of this is cost. As of last week, a funnel cake at the kiosk near the American Pavilion is $6, which is over the cost of most snacks. At Disney's Hollywood Studios, a funnel cake (with sugar) is a snack credit, since it costs less, at Oasis Canteen. As of now, a funnel cake at Magic Kingdom's Sleepy Hollow is included as a snack on the DP as well.

It's best to shop around so that you'll use your snack credit for something that feels like a splurge, and would have cost a bit more than a bottle of water. When looking for a great snack in the parks, I always suggest that you look at those locations which have DDP stickers and look for the priciest items. Both savory and sweet, you can find some great options throughout the parks if you know where to look. Some favorites include: (HS) The Writer's Stop; Beverly Sunset Sweet Spells; Dinosaur Gertie's Ice Cream; Starring Rolls Cafe. At MK, we love Casey's Corner, Main Street Bakery, Auntie Gravity's Galactic Goodies and Aloha Isle. EP has favorites in every country as well as Fountain View Ice Cream and Sunshine Seasons (desserts!) At AK, we like Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery, Harambe Fruit Market and Ananadapur Ice Cream Truck, among others.

Bottom line? ENJOY! Spend those snack credits wisely and bring your own water into the parks each day. Feel free to send specifics likes and dislikes and I'll give you a more specific list of great items to try as a snack!
