    44 days! I keep seeing information on Animal Programs that are unique to AKL, do you have to be a guest of AKL to enjoy these? I am really interested in seeing animals upclose, but only have the budget for ASM. What other ways can I get close to animals?

    There are some wonderful special programs for Animal Kingdom Lodge guests but there is also a great tour you can sign up for called the Backstage Safari.  This is a three hour tour of the Animal Kingdom park that includes visits to many of the backstage outdoor animal areas.  You will have the opportunity to see the animal kitchens, veterinarian facilities, and learn about many of the conservation efforts taking place.  You can read more about this at www.disneyworld.com under Tours.  You must be 16 years of age and you can make reservations by calling 407-939-8687.

    The Animal Kingdom Park is also a great place to observe many animals from the Safari ride to the special trails.  Take time to head to Rafiki's Planet Watch for more exposure and interaction with animals and animal experts.
