How many days on first visit with a 3 & 7 year old?

    Hi B,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Thank you for responding to the call for additional allies to support the Resistance as we try to bring peace to the galaxy. In an effort to expedite your arrival, I offer the following recommendations.

Given the age of your Padawans, I would suggest that you visit each theme park at least once, so I would do at least a four-night, five-day trip. With little ones, I normally do not recommend adding the Park Hopper option to visit more than one park per day because there is so much to see at each park and you may need to take a break in the afternoon to rest. Ideally, I would recommend a six-night, seven day trip so that you can take some time to relax and enjoy the amenities at your resort hotel.

I learned from our first trip that, at least for us, the best way to do Disney with little ones is to take our time. They will get tired, so schedule afternoon nap time. As hard as it was to drag ourselves away from the parks every afternoon on that first trip with our girls, everybody CRASHED when we got back to the resort hotel, adults included. The combination of late nights, early mornings and hectic pace can lead to what I like to refer to as the mid-trip breakdown. To prevent that breakdown, we now schedule a resort day a few days into our trip if we are staying for a week or longer.

As you make your decision, consider your budget, the proximity of your resort hotel to the parks, and the transportation options at your resort hotel. We prefer resort hotels within walking distance of the parks or those with multiple transportation options. For this reason, we adore Disney's Contemporary Resort because we can walk to Magic Kingdom and we love Disney's BoardWalk Inn because we can walk to EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios from the resort. In fact, on our last trip, we stayed at Disney's BoardWalk Villas and being able to walk to Disney's Hollywood Studios came in quite handy as we rushed to get to Batuu to join our allies on Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

After you select your resort hotel, book your vacation package and then mark your calendar for 180 and 60 days prior to your trip. At 180 days prior you will want to make advanced dining reservations and at 60 days prior, you will need to make FastPass+ selections for attractions. Check the height requirements using the Attractions List as well so that you make FastPass+ selections for rides your little ones can definitely experience!

Of course, the number of days you select depends entirely on your budget but no matter how many days you choose, plan some rest breaks. Remember all of the benefits of staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel as you make your decision and trust your instincts. May the Force be with you as you plan!

    Magic and memories,
