going for 7 days. compulsive planner. made spreadsheet. having hard time planning what park to do which day. have you ever just winged it on deciding where to go each day? did that work out ok? taking first timer - should magic kingdom be first park? thnx!

    Hi Tarah,

You sound so much like me it's uncanny.  I've not only created spreadsheets and detailed itineraries, but laminated them in case we got caught in the rain!  I know, it's a problem that I'm working through!  I think it's great that you are organized and are trying to plan out the best schedule for your family.  While I think some some advance planning is critical (i.e., securing dining reservations at popular restaurants, booking dinner shows, tours and other special events), I have also learned to enjoy ,what I lovingly refer to as "Non-Space Mountain Moments."    Some of these include allowing your family to sit on a bench in Epcot, eat a Mickey bar, and watch the dancing water fountains.  Or, if you have small children, letting them take a few minutes to "play" with the Cast Members who set up hop-scotch and jump ropes on Main Street USA.  Some of my photos from these moments are on the front pages of my albums.

As for which park to start with, I'd consider what your party's interests and "must sees" are.  If you have little children, the Magic Kingdom is sure to "wow" them, and an excellent place to start.  If you have older kids, who are interested in space, cars, travel, etc. Epcot is a good choice.  Animal lovers...well, you get the picture.  Where you start is probably less important than ensuring that everyone in your party gets a chance to see and experience their "top" choices.  I'd also leave "wiggle" room in your schedule for going back to your family's favorites toward the end of the trip.

    Have a wonderful first time!
