How many days do you have to cancel hotel reservations before losing deposit?

This can be a little tricky, as Disney has different cancellation policies for different types of reservations: vacation packages (which include room, ticket and sometimes dining), room-only reservations, and online reservations. And these policies may change in 2016.

Currently, you can cancel a room-only reservation that you made via phone with Disney up to 5-days from check-in without paying any cancellation penalty and will receive your deposit back. If you made your reservation online, you can cancel up to 6 days out without penalty. If you cancel less than 5 days out, you'll lose the one night's deposit. You can cancel a vacation package up to 45-days in advance without a penalty, but after that, you'll pay a $200 cancellation fee. If you cancel at 1 day out or closer, you'll forfeit the full package price.

Needless to say, if you made your hotel reservations with a travel agent, online travel service or any other entity besides Disney, hotel cancellation policies may differ and you'll want to contact them directly.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Whitney, Mississippi

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
