Hello! I have a 5 day World park ticket being transferred to me from a bit of a hiccup that happened on our previous vacation. i'm wondering how that works for booking the next vacation: do I book for everyone or -1 for a resort package?

    Hi Matthew,

Thanks for bringing your question to us today. I'm happy to help!

I'm sorry to hear you experienced some less-than-magical circumstances on your last visit. It's never fun when that happens, but thankfully there are always future visits and new magical memories awaiting. I'm not sure whether the tickets you mention are coming from Guest Relations, or if they are being reassigned from another guest. I'll outline both options for you to try and cover all your bases.

If the tickets in question are coming to you as a result of an interaction with Guest Relations, you'll need to reach out to Disney Reservations is (407) 934-7639 for assistance. The value of the tickets may be able to be applied to a new vacation package reservation, but that would depend on the exact type of tickets you are going to receive. Unfortunately, I'm not able to see the details of your tickets so I can't give you more specific guidance. Your best bet is to speak with a reservation specialist who can assist you in making your new booking.

If the tickets are being reassigned from a friend or family member the circumstances will be a bit different. First, you may need to call in together to have the unused ticket re-assigned to your account and modify the dates for your upcoming trip. Keep in mind that there may be an additional balance due if the new dates are more expensive than the ticket's original dates.

I know one of the big advantages of a vacation package is the ability to book with a minimal deposit and make payments as your arrival date nears. However, you won't have the option to select or deselect tickets for individual guests as the same entitlements will apply to each guest included on the package. I reached out to a Cast Member to see if there was a workaround when booking online, but they indicated that you'd need to call in and speak with Disney Reservations at the number provided above to complete the purchase.

Another option is to book the room and tickets a la carte. I have an Annual Pass but my husband and children do not, so when we visit I book a Disney Resorts Collection hotel room for our preferred dates and then purchase their tickets separately. If you go this route, be sure you are each listed on the resort reservation to adhere to occupancy limits but also so you can all take advantage of Early Theme Park Entry and have the option to purchase Individual Lightning Lanes at 7 a.m. during your stay.

I'm sorry I couldn't provide a clearer answer to your particular inquiry, but I trust that Cast Members will be able to offer further assistance. Since you're hoping to visit in April I'd recommend calling them sooner than later since the Spring Break season is usually busy. Your dates should put you right near the start of EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, which is always a wonderful time to visit!

Matthew, if we can answer additional questions or offer any recommendations for your trip please come back and let us know.

    Magic and memories,
    Amy
