For 5 day trip with a 4 and 2 year old, mid-may, what is best resort (price not an option) with considerations being amenities for the kids (kids pools, etc. that are fun for family), access to parks, general experience? 1st time at WDW for us.

I would suggest Disney's Grand Floridian Resort.  There are many different activities that are available for you and your family.  There is the beach, which is entertaining in itself, the pool is a zero-depth entry beach pool, along with a kiddie pool as well.  The monorail runs to and from the Grand Floridian to the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and Contemporary and Polynesian Resorts. There are also opportunities for you four year old to take a Grand Adventures in Cooking Class, which is a great time, when my daughter did it she decorated a chef's hat and apron, along with decorating all sorts of sugary snacks.  She had a blast.  Your four year old could also embark on a Disney's Pirate Adventure and search for buried treasure.  Both the Cooking class and the Pirate Adventure do have additional fees.  There's the spa for the adults...Hope you have a fabulous first visit to Walt Disney World.  Heather M.
