Hello! If I have a 1 day ticket for today, but not able to go, am I able to use the value of the ticket to buy a new ticket on a different day? If so, when do those funds become available to use?

Hi there, Erika - welcome to planDisney!

Thanks so much for stopping by with a question for our team of panelists. We're here to help Guests just like you plan your very own, very magical, Walt Disney World Resort vacations!

The great thing about most Walt Disney World Resort Theme Park Tickets is that if they have not been used, you are able to simply change the start date, or apply the value of an eligible unused ticket to a new Theme Park Ticket purchase in the future. If the ticket you have is a 1-Day Theme Park Ticket (e.g., not a remaining day from a multi-day ticket) and has not been used, you should have these options available!

I'm not sure if the "today" in your question was hypothetical, or if today is actually the day you'd planned to use your ticket. If "today" is today, or your ticket is otherwise expired, then you will need to either contact a Ticketing Cast Member by phone at 407-934-7639, or get help at a ticketing window or Guest Relations location at any of the four Theme Parks. They should be able to issue a credit that you'll be able to apply to a future ticket purchase!

If you were asking more hypothetically, I suggest simply changing the start date of your ticket to a new date in the future (if you know when you'll be able to visit again). You can change the start date of your ticket up until Midnight Eastern Time the day before your ticket's current start date. Simply open up the My Disney Experience Mobile App and tap the menu icon (☰) in the lower right corner, and then tap Tickets and Passes. Select the ticket you would like to change the start date for and then follow the additional instructions. Because ticket pricing is dynamic, the new date you select may have a slightly different price, so have a credit card ready in case you need to cover the difference. Remember, you'll also need a Park Pass Reservation in order to use your ticket to visit a Theme Park, so be sure to check availability and make a reservation once you have a new ticket.

Whenever you decide to visit, be sure to check out everything new! My absolute favorite new addition to the Theme Parks is Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT - it's a blast!

I hope this information is helpful as you reconfigure your plans - please let me know if any additional questions pop up!
