We have a day to spend at Downtown Disney before checking in at POR. Can we take a ferry from Downtown to POR to explore a little before we have checked in to the resort? Thanks!

    Hi Jay,

Absolutely! You are welcome to take the water taxi from Downtown Disney to Port Orleans Riverside to check out the grounds and restaurants before you check in at the resort . But I want to be sure you realize that you can check into the resort before 3 p.m. if you want.

If you arrive early, your room may not be ready. Still, you can get your welcome packet, park your car if you have one, stow your luggage with bell services if you choose, explore the grounds, use the pools and also catch the boat to Downtown Disney. The resort will call or text you with your room number when it is ready.

If you are going to have a car, that's what I would do. The ongoing transformation of Downtown Disney to Disney Springs has closed some of the parking lots and finding a space can be a bit tricky.

Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. Please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help. Enjoy your visit!
