Hi Brian!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! You and your family must be getting so excited for your upcoming Disney Cruise! I love that your son is already planning ahead and wanting to maintain his training during the cruise. He sounds like a competitive athlete; most kids his age would probably be looking forward to a break from training during a family vacation!
In order to enjoy the equipment in the Fitness Centers on all four vessels, Disney Cruise Line does require that Guests be 18 years of age or older. With that being said, I'd love to help think of some creative ways your son could get in some great workouts while sailing to paradise! There is an outdoor running track on each Disney Cruise ship that he will be able to use! Plus, he won't be able to beat the view! Does your upcoming cruise stop at
Disney's private island, Castaway Cay? If so, your son can change up his cardio routine by
renting a bike and cycling around the island. If he's looking for lightweight exercise equipment he can pack in his suitcase and easily store onboard, I recommend bringing a few different sizes of resistance bands! Your son can get a full-body workout by using them in your stateroom or even bringing them onto the sandy beaches of Castaway Cay. (Your athletic pirate won't be able to loop the exercise bands around any furniture within the stateroom, but may stand on them to create the resistance he desires!)
Brian, I'm wishing you and your family an unforgettable voyage! If you have any other questions, please sail back and visit us again!
