Welcome aboard, Kristin!
Thanks for another great outfit question on the Moms Panel. Packing for a trip for the family is easier when done slowly but surely. It allows you to plan each days' outfits and (hopefully) this helps you to not overpack :-). Sounds like you're planning on your own outfits now - your plans must be progressing well.
Capri pants and a blouse or a nice top seems to be the usual Mom's outfit. Is there an unwritten rule somewhere? Why are all these in my closet too, and that's exactly what I usually wear on the Disney Cruise. I agree with your idea of comfort. You want to look good in pictures, and you also want to feel very comfortable at dinner time. If you decide to glam it up a bit, you can always add on accessories and some nice sandals. I will usually pack 1 dressier outfit, since my husband and I like to plan date night at Palo or Remy. It's special every night on the Disney Cruise, but we do an extra special date night just for the 2 of us at least on 1 night (or brunch) on each of our voyages. It's nice to change it up a bit.
You'll feel comfortable being dressed as how you would outfit yourself when you go out on the town when you're at home. Cruise casual has evolved through the years, and guests on the Disney Cruise still look sharp though dressed down a bit more than before. For formal night, you can definitely get really dressed up and feel the evening's sophistication in the air... then take those nice family photos with the Disney Cruise signature backgrounds at the lobby atrium before or after dinner.
Here's a nice video from my fellow cruise mom, Marcy, just to keep you excited about the
fabulous dining and entertainment that you'll soon be experiencing on board! I'm sure you've got great outfits planned, Kristin. Have a great time planning!
