My daughters will by 10 & 7 years old when we travel. With the quick service dining plan, are we able to choose to have my 10 year old be a 'child' and order off the kids menu and pay the kids price for the dining plan?

Hi, Ricki!  Thanks for bringing us another great question here at planDisney!

There sure has been a lot of exciting news about Walt Disney World Resort vacations recently, including the return of Disney dining plans in 2024!  When purchasing a Disney dining plan, all Guests ages 3-9 will be charged the children's price, and Guests ages 10 and up will be charged as adults.  Unfortunately, there is no option to purchase a kids' dining plan for children who are 10 or older.

As the mom of a teen with special needs who is an extremely picky eater, I can certainly understand where you're coming from.  When visiting Walt Disney World Resort restaurants with my son, we often end up ordering him adult portions of kids' menu foods.  In my experience, the Cast Members at Walt Disney World Resort restaurants are great about making sure all of their Guests have something that they like to eat.  However, what we end up ordering for my son doesn't always fit into the specifications of a Disney dining plan.  While Disney dining plans can be a great value and work well for many families, my family usually chooses not to purchase a dining plan.

I would suggest doing some research on the Walt Disney World website as you plan your trip.  You can take a look at the menus for dining locations that you're interested in to see if there are foods on the adult menu that you think your 10-year-old would like.  You can also view current menu prices to compare with the cost of a Disney dining plan.  This type of research should help you decide if a Disney dining plan will be a good fit for your family.

Ricki, if you decide to skip purchasing a dining plan but still like the idea of having your meals paid for in advance, I recommend taking the money you have budgeted for your meals and using it to buy Disney gift cards.  You can purchase Disney gift cards a little at a time between now and your vacation, and by the time you depart for Walt Disney World Resort, you'll already have the funds set aside for dining.  You can even use your Disney gift cards for mobile food and beverage orders through your My Disney Experience mobile app.

Wishing you a magical Walt Disney World Resort vacation!
