Hi, My daughters 9 & 17 and I are visiting 7/12-7/17. We all tolerate the heat well. Is there any guidance you have for attending the parks during the day? Is it possible that lots of folks leave the parks during hottest part of the day?

    Hi Laura!

We visit every year in August for our children's birthdays.  I won't sugar coat it, it's hot.  Well, humid.  Luckily, there are a lot of indoor attractions and shows that you can plan throughout your day to break up the amount of time you spend outside.  We like to alternate between an outdoor attraction and an indoor one and in the afternoon when it's the most hot, we head in for a show.  Mickey's PhilharMagic in Disney's Magic Kingdom is a great attraction to visit since it's a 12 minute show and the lines are not usually long.  The Tomorrowland Transit Authority People Mover is one of my favorite attractions for taking a break.

You will find that the parks tend to thin out a bit in the afternoon.  Guests take breaks in the afternoon to head back to their resort for some pool time or even head to one of the Walt Disney World water parks to cool off and then head back to a park in the evening.  It is a great opportunity to take advantage of shorter lines.

Be sure to keep yourselves well hydrated.  You can ask for a complimentary cup of ice water at any location that serves fountain beverages.

    Have a magical day!
