Welcome to
Disney Parks Moms Panel, S Nathan!
I am so glad that you dropped by with this question, as so many folks are in this same situation.
In short, if you and your daughters are not using a
Disney Dining Plan to pay for your meals while touring
Walt Disney World, they will be able to order from both the kids' menu as well as from the adult menu. In fact, while dining with our good friends at Animal Kingdom's
Tiffins last week,
they ordered a modified kids' meal for one of their daughters, who will soon be 14. As with your daughters, she is simply not at the point where an adult-sized meal is appropriate for her appetite. Nonetheless, our fantastic server asked our talented chef to create a child-sized portion of Tiffins' signature braised short rib, complete with PURPLE potatoes--so cool! She loved it, and it was the perfect size for her.
However, if you are using a Disney Dining Plan, which sets the cost for older children the same as for an adult, and if none of the adult menu items are as appealing as the kids' menu items for your girls, simply ask your server for options. Typically, Table-Service locations are very creative and flexible with their menus, swapping out items from an adult menu to the kids' menu and vice-versa, if at all possible. (My fully-grown husband once enjoyed an adult-sized portion of the kids' mac-and-cheese, simply because he had a hankering for its ooey-gooey goodness!)
Keep sending your planning questions, S Nathan; we love to help!
