Hi Melanie,
Technically, the kids menu items are for guests ages 9 and under. That being said, there are some teens (and adults) who have small appetites or who can only eat a smaller portion size for various health reasons. Cast Members normally do not ask who is eating which meal when you place your order. I can honestly say that in the countless times that we have dined at Disney, we've never been asked. In fact, I have specifically informed the Cast Member that I'm not very hungry and I asked if I could order a kids meal. However, if you want to be assured that there won't be an issue when eating at a
quick service restaurant, simply have one family member order for everyone while the others choose a table in the dining room. It isn't like you are trying to cheat the system, you are choosing not to waste food since your kids aren't big eaters. However, when you are dining at a table service restaurant, your server will generally insist that teens order off the adult menu. That being said, if they genuinely prefer the entrée selections on the kids menu, simply ask the server to charge you for an adult portion of the chicken tenders and fries (for example).
