Hiya Jodi. Welcome to planDisney, and thanks for stopping by with your question.
MagicBand and
MagicBand+ are my favorite tools when visiting the Walt Disney World Resort. Being able to tap into the parks, redeem Lightning Lanes, charge purchases back to your resort room, and add photos to your
Memory Maker with just a flick of the wrist is about as easy and convenient as it gets. And with all the fun designs, characters, and colors, choosing one becomes part of the excitement of the trip.
The good news is that a MagicBand is linked to an individual Guest profile, not to your mobile device. So even though your daughter’s band is managed through your My Disney Experience account, she can absolutely use it while visiting the parks with family friends. As long as her theme park ticket, theme park reservation if required, and any
Lightning Lane selections are associated with her profile, she will be able to tap into the park and redeem Lightning Lanes with no trouble at all.
That said, I do recommend taking one extra step to make the day even smoother. Have the family friends add your daughter to their
Family & Friends List. Doing so will default to sharing all of your plans, which is what you want. This will allow them to book additional Lightning Lanes for the group, adjust return times, or modify plans that include her without needing your phone. She won’t need her own device for any of this.
Adding her is easy to do in the
My Disney Experience app. Open the app, tap the menu (three horizontal lines on the bottom right), scroll to “Account” and select “Profile,” then toggle to the “Family & Friends List” at the top. From there, they can choose “Add a Guest.” Since your daughter already exists in your account, the simplest option is to use the “Scan Linking Code” feature when with your family friends. You can generate this for her profile by tapping “My Profile,” selecting her name, and then choosing “Show My Linking Code.” They will scan that code from their device, and she’ll immediately appear in their Friends List with shared plans enabled. You can do this at home before the trip, so everything is set and ready to go.
I hope this helps clear things up, Jodi. If you’d like help checking that everything is linked correctly or have any follow-up questions before her visit, swing back by planDisney, and
I’ll be happy to help.
