It's my daughters 9th birthday. I want to do something special for just her and I. (Princess dinner or something). Any ideas?

Hey there Amy, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

What a sweet idea to plan a special Walt Disney World outing with your birthday girl. And 9 is such a great age! Still a little girl, but growing up so fast. I have a couple of ideas that I hope will help make her big day even more special.

If you start your day at the Magic Kingdom Park, you can sample the breakfast fare at Be Our Guest Restaurant. Your daughter will love stepping into the Grand Ballroom setting from Beauty and The Beast, complete with a view of a gentle snowfall through the windows. For a really neat experience, check out the mysterious West Wing and watch the Beast's portrait change during your meal.

You'll have time to ride some of your daughter's favorite Magic Kingdom attractions after breakfast, then head out for a leisurely boat ride to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa for my next recommendation: Afternoon Tea at the Garden View Tea Room. It's a very grown-up experience that's designed with young princesses in mind. You'll sit down to a traditional tea service complete with finger sandwiches, pastries and cakes, and of course, tea. (If your daughter isn't fond of tea, the Mrs. Potts tea is actually chocolate milk!) Afternoon Tea at the Garden View Tea Room takes place daily between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Take some time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the Grand Floridian before continuing on with your  day. Maybe you'll have a character dinner at the Magic Kingdom...go shopping at Downtown Disney...or take in a nighttime spectacular like Wishes. There are so many ways to make your little girl's big day really special.

I hope this helps spark some ideas for you, Amy. Wishing your daughter a very happy birthday!

    Keep Disney Dreaming,

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
