Hey Howdy Hey Ida and welcome to planDisney!
I love that your daughter-in-law is thinking about planning her next trip to
Walt Disney World Resort for a graduation gift. What a Magical way to celebrate! Thank you so much for your question on the Disney savings account as Disney did have a product that was similar to this. Let's review this and some other options.
Once upon a time, Disney did have a product Disney Vacation Account, that was there to help Disney goers plan for their trips to Walt Disney World, Disneyland or a Disney Cruise. This option did not quite gain enough popularity and at this time is no longer available. Never fear, you can still do this but Disney will not be the one that will be managing the money.
From here, you have two options. You can set up a savings plan for her that is strictly a "vacation savings account" or you can buy her Disney gift cards that she can only use for Disney things. There are many banks with varying rates for savings plans and some with products that are specifically marketed for vacation planning. You can shop around and find the best rate and open one in her name which would be similar to the vacation account Disney once had.
One of the more popular options, however, is buying Disney gift cards. These are guarantees that she will not be able to use for other vacations or leisure, unless for Disney purposes! As she accumulates them, she can connect them virtually to her Google Pay or Apple Pay accounts to access them to pay for everything from her room, food and drinks and almost anything in Walt Disney World she can think of on her trip. There are several places such as Target that have special offers if you purchase them with your credit card from there which makes it beneficial to you as well.
Disney has made celebrations so much easier in the parks with the development of the
Disney Enchanting Extras Collection. Here you can browse ways to celebrate from
Capture Your Moment photoshoots in all four parks to even
special firework dessert parties. There are so many different and unique ways your daughter-in-law will be able to celebrate her big achievement!
I hope this was helpful to clear up where and how to save for a Disney vacation. I hope you all can visit the Most Magical Place on Earth real soon and if you have any further questions please feel free to reach out, we would be happy to help.
Have a Magical Day,
Nick
