My daughter (16 yrs old) is coming to Disney w/her softball team for a week.. How much money should I plan on her spending to eat per day? They will be in the Disney All Star Movie resort and will spend approx. 3 days at the parks and 3 at sportsplex

    Christina:

I can understand your concern!  My two older children spent most of our last Disney vacation in the parks on their own, so I was always having to make sure they had enough "lunch" money!

This is a tough question, though, as you can get a baked potato in Epcot for as little as $3.99 or a lamb platter at Morocco's counter service for $11.95....if the team plans on eating any meals at a table restaurant, your daughter's budget might get busted in just one or two meals.

My suggestion is to ask her coach what the game plan is...for meals.  Counter service at the resort's food court?  Any special meals, and if so, where?  Some times teams will go on the group plan with food vouchers that are a set price, so you may also want to inquire if the team is taking advantage of that program as well.

My rule of thumb is about $13 per counter service meal and $40 for a table service meal (which includes gratuity and a drink).  If you have the time, visit www.allears.net and take a look at its dining menus--especially the one for the food court at AllStar Movies.  You'll have a much better feel for what your daughter may order and what she'll spend.

    Wishing her a magical experience!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
