My daughter has a wheelchair. Can we wear a wheelchair costume? Like the new Aerial wheelchair costume?

    Hi Stacey,

Thanks for swimming by with such a great question. You and your daughter are as welcome as can be at Disney Parks, and I’m so excited to hear that you’re planning some costume fun together for your next visit.

I confirmed that yes, you may absolutely have her wheelchair decorated as part of her costume for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party as long as the whole look abides by the costume and dress-up guidelines. The key is to keep her and other Guests around her safe, so please be sure that nothing is trailing the ground or has any extra decorations that could be a potential hazard. I love the many new options available on shopDisney for adaptive wheelchair wraps! They are so colorful and clever; I hope you can get the new Little Mermaid one for your daughter. There’s a full matching adaptive costume for her, too! Whatever you decide for her theme, she will be so beautiful and always remember the extra effort you went to for her wheelchair’s costume. YOU are the magic, mama!

The Walt Disney World Resort is incredibly thoughtful when it comes to accessibility, Stacey. I’d love to share some of my favorite resources for you as you plan your special vacation:

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party looks to be another spook-tacular time this year! I’ve been in years past, and my favorite part is Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade. The music is so catchy, and the unique characters or special entertainment can’t be beat!

Please come back and “sea” us if you have any additional questions about your trip. If you’d like to continue our conversation, you can also write me back directly and I’d love to answer anything on your mind regarding accessibility or the special spooky time of year at the parks.

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Amy
