    Jairo from CA Asked

My daughter is in a wheelchair. What is the process for accessing the Disneyland and California adventures park?

    Hello, Jairo!

Welcome to planDisney. I’m so glad you came by to ask this question and that you’re planning a vacation to the Disneyland Resort soon...the magic is just around the corner for you!

Some resort attractions are fully accessible and others require riders to transfer from a wheelchair. You can see what category of access is offered at every attraction for Guests with mobility disabilites by visiting Disneyland.com before your visit, or you can stop at City Hall in Disneyland Park or the Chamber of Commerce in Disney California Adventure Park once you arrive to speak with a Guest Services Cast Member. They can assist you with assessing the accessibility and comfort of each attraction for your daughter. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by how much you’ll all be able to experience together!

Many attraction queues are wide and flat enough to accomodate a mobility device. If your daughter is able to transfer out of the wheelchair, you can all move through the queue as normal, and then a Cast Member will hold the wheelchair for you at the loading area while you experience the attraction. There are attractions that load or unload at an alternate location or on different sides of the ride vehicle, so in some cases you may need to use another entrance even if her wheelchair could otherwise fit in the queue. You may also be given a return time based on the current wait time rather than waiting in the regular standby line. Just check with a Cast Member at the beginning of each queue and they will provide guidance on the proper procedure for your group.

I hope this helps you make plans, Jairo, and that your whole family’s visit to the theme parks is filled with pixie-dusted moments and amazing adventures from beginning to end!

    Wishing you magic,
    Courtney
