My daughter and I will be visiting Magic Kingdom when there is Extended Magic Hours but don't qualify. I know we can't go on rides, but can we stay longer to enjoy food and shopping? How does Disney let us know when it's time to leave?

Hi Linda, and welcome back to planDisney!

August is a beautiful time to visit Walt Disney World Resort for all guests, and I know you are busy planning all the fun activities you will experience. The closer I get to my arrival, the more planning happens because the excitement builds, and I love it!

Per the website, the extended evening theme park hours are a benefit for registered guests staying at Disney Deluxe Resorts and Disney Deluxe Villa Resorts. During that time, select merchandise and food and beverage locations are available in addition to select attractions. If you are not a Disney Deluxe Resort or Deluxe Villa Resort guest, it may be a good idea to plan your dining and shopping earlier in the day if you happen to visit during one of those evenings. If you happen to be a guest at the other select Disney Resorts, you can enter the theme parks 30 minutes early every day.

One option I recommend is if you are visiting the day of the extended hours and you have a park hopper in your possession, you can start your day at that extended evening theme park and then hop over to another theme park later in the day. My family and I have done that on occasion or two, and it has worked out. You can also hop over to Disney Springs to continue your shopping and dining experiences.

Please let us know if you have additional questions; we are here to help.

    Have a magical stay!
