Hello my daughter is turning 13 and wants to go to Disneyland on her birthday. Are we allowed to bring in birthday presents?I was looking at reservations for dinner and ordering a birthday cake where we eat inside the park. Can she open her presents there?

Celebratory greetings, Krissy, and thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your birthday questions!

First off, I’d like to wish a very happy birthday to your 13-year-old daughter! I can’t think of a more magical place to celebrate than at the Happiest Place on Earth!

Yes, you are allowed to bring presents in with you, so long as the items you’re gifting don’t fall under the “Prohibited Items” listed on the Disneyland Resort Rules. I recommend packing your daughter’s gifts in gift bags so that Cast Members can look inside them at the Security Checkpoint. I’d hate for you to have your gifts wrapped, only to be told you have to unwrap them before getting through Security!

If you’re looking into dining reservations, I’d recommend celebrating at a location with a unique atmosphere, such as Lamplight Lounge, Blue Bayou Restaurant, or Wine Country Trattoria. Timing your meal just before a showing of World of Color at Lamplight Lounge sounds like a dream to me! The World of Color Dessert Party could be another fun way to celebrate the big occasion!

As for ordering a Celebration Cake, you have several options. Custom-designed cakes are available at select Disneyland Resort restaurants. Choose from a variety of flavors and Disney themes to customize this celebratory cake. To order a custom-designed cake, call Disneyland Dining at (714) 781-3463 at least four weeks before your reservation. If you run out of time before your reservation, not to worry – a selection of table-service restaurants throughout the Disneyland Resort offer a Mickey Mouse Celebration Cake, which is a super-cute (and yummy!) Mickey-shaped cake with custom engraving. Same-day cakes can be requested upon arrival at the restaurant, based on availability.

Lastly, don’t forget to stop by Guest Relations upon arrival to pick up a complimentary birthday button. This way, your daughter will receive birthday wishes from Cast Members and Characters all day long! You can find Guest Relations in City Hall on Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland Park, or at Chamber of Commerce on Buena Vista Street in Disney California Adventure Park.

Wishing your daughter a memorable, pixie-dusted birthday she’ll never forget!
