Hello, my daughter is turning 16 soon and I would like to stay in a moderate resort. Which moderate resorts are the cheapest? She has already stayed at all of the value hotels, so we want to switch it up, but without it getting too expensive. Thank you!

    Hi Kira,

    Welcome to the Moms Panel!

I'm happy you are considering a stay at one of the Walt Disney World moderate resorts. You will find that all of the moderate resorts are going to be roughly the same price, which will vary depending on the season and availability. The starting price listed on the Disney site is $170 per night.

My family's favorite in that category is Port Orleans French Quarter. We like the fact that it is a small resort, but adjacent to Port Orleans Riverside so that you can make use of that resort's pools, restaurants and other amenities.

Port Orleans French Quarter has its own nice pools, including one with a sea serpent sliding board, but tends to feel more quiet and adult than some of the other resorts to us. From either Port Orleans resort, you can take a free water taxi to Downtown Disney, which is a fun thing to do. And don't miss the hot beignets offered in the food court.

If you want to splurge a little more, the Royal Guest Rooms at Port Orleans Riverside are especially beautiful and have a special ambiance.

As our daughters have gotten older, we have found that the bigger beds (queens vs. doubles) and slightly larger rooms at the moderate resorts are a nice benefit over the value resorts.

I'm sure you will enjoy your stay at any of the Disney moderate resorts. They are all nicely themed and have great amenities. The Port Orleans pair just have a slight advantage in my preference.

If budget is your primary concern, you won't go wrong by basing your choice on which of the resorts has the best rate for your desired dates.

I hope that helps. Please let me know if I can answer other questions as you plan your daughter's Sweet 16 visit. Enjoy!
