My daughter will be turning 5 just 1 month after the cruise ..we really want to experience in stringray adventure at castaway cay! I wonder how strict this policy is ..?

    Welcome aboard planDisney, Winnie!

I’m so excited for your family to experience this magical Disney Cruise Line vacation. So much is included with your cruise, and when you add the incredible Port Adventures in each port of call you have a vacation of a lifetime ahead of you!

Unfortunately, your daughter is not eligible to sign up for Castaway Ray’s Stingray Adventure. Disney prides itself on safety protocols in all theme parks, resorts, onboard Disney Cruise Line, and in ports of call; this age minimum of five years old is for her safety and the safety of these magnificent stingrays. I know this is disappointing so close to her birthday, but exceptions cannot be made for these age restrictions and everything is based off of her exact age during the cruise. I’ve enjoyed this Port Adventure on Disney Castaway Cay and can understand why younger children cannot partake. The stingrays are wild creatures, and the experience involves hand feeding them and snorkeling with them freely in deep water, so there are many risks throughout the experience that need to be managed both by Disney and your family. I hope your future adventures will bring you to this special private island another time when you can all enjoy Castaway Ray’s together. For this trip, be sure to explore the many family-friendly activities on the island and make time for a special smoothie at Olaf’s Summertime Freeze.

I’m not sure if your sailing in August is onboard the Disney Wish or the Disney Magic, but if you happen to be on the Disney Magic to Cozumel, Mexico I suggest you consider the Dolphin Kids at Dolphinaris - All Inclusive (CZ39) Port Adventure. This is specially designed for children aged three to nine and involves close encounters with incredible dolphins. If you are on the Disney Wish, you can visit the stunning Atlantis – Paradise Island as a day guest and see many stingrays and other unbelievable sea creatures up close in “The Dig”, their expansive outdoor aquarium that's unlike anything else in the world.

Your daughter is going to have an amazing time onboard as well, Winnie! Be sure to check out the Oceaneer Club on embarkation day for their special Open House hours where you can explore and become comfortable in the youth club space together before she stays on her own throughout the cruise. You can chat with the youth counselors and have any questions answered and understand the imaginative environment she will enjoy during your vacation.

Please let us know what other questions you have as you finalize plans for this wonderful adventure later this summer.

Wishing you a practically perfect sailing,
    Amy
