My Daughter is turning 4 feb 1st we want to surprise her with a trip to disney world! we are also florida residents and this will be our first time experience. What are must sees, experiences, and extras? how much should I expect to spend?

    Hi Destinee,

There's so much to see and do at Walt Disney World that it can be overwhelming for first-time visitors. Let me try to help.

First, your question about cost. Disney has options for a wide range of budgets when it comes to resorts and dining. Admission will be one of your largest expenses. I suggest you look at the Discover Disney offer for Florida residents. It gives you three days of admission between now and June 6 for $129, just a little more than the cost of a single day and is a good introductory ticket.

Whether you make a day trip or stay longer, I would start at Magic Kingdom. It is the iconic park and has magical something for everyone. Stop by Guest Relations and get your daughter a free birthday button so that cast members and other guests will know to offer their best wishes. Sometimes, birthday girls encounter magical surprises.

I recommend that newcomers take time in advance to look through the list of rides and attractions on the website. Make note of the 5 or 6 things that look most appealing. For your daughter, those will probably be in New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom. Do those first to get your day off to a great start.

And, if you haven't already, go to the Disney World home page and sign up for My Disney Experience. This app will help you keep track of your plans and register for FastPass+ ride reservations in advance if you are eligible.

I honestly wouldn't plan "extras" now. Walt Disney World is so magical when you see it for the first time that I don't think you need to go to the trouble and expense of adding special experiences. That can come later, because I'm sure you will be back.

I am limited on space, but please write me back if I can offer more specifics. Enjoy this special time!
