My daughter will be turning 11 while we are at Disney World in June. Any ideas or suggestions on a way to make it an extra special birthday? Do the resorts or Parks do anything special for birthdays?

    Celebrations at WDW are magical!

You can order a cake to enjoy at any restaurant by calling the Cake Hotline (yes there is such at thing at the Happiest Place on Earth) at 407-827-2253. Remember to give 48 hours advance notice.  Or call 407-WDW-DINE and ask to be transferred to any restaurant or the Cake Hotline. You will need to tell them that you already have a reservation and wish to discuss your celebrations.

Stop in at Guest Services in City Hall at the Magic Kingdom and ask for a birthday button. Tell your hostess and server at every place that you dine that your daughter is celebrating her birthday. Magical things will often happen. For instance, Chef Mickey’s brings a complimentary cupcake although personalized cakes can be ordered at an additional fee.

If you are staying at a WDW resort, call the operator and ask for the birthday message. You might hear a Goofy birthday wish. Have the birthday noted on your reservation and remind the Cast Member at Check In. Our son received balloons and an autographed picture from Mickey Mouse at the All Star Movies. This is not a guarantee but Cast Members try to sprinkle as much magic as they can.

Get an autograph book and have the characters sign birthday messages. If you are touring Epcot, visit the KidCot stations in World Showcase and get Happy Birthday written in all different languages. Ask the Cast Member how to say Happy Birthday in their language. Enjoy!
