My daughter just turned 5 on Feb 20th and I am planning her 1st trip to WDW ever in August. I need all kinds of assistance in planning the trip. Advice?

    Hi Marsha!

Happy Birthday to your little princess!  Seeing Walt Disney World through the eyes of your child will be one of the most precious moments of your life. When planning any Disney trip I always start with my BDCD, budget, dates, crowd, dining which is the best place to start before moving on to smaller details.

Creating a budget for my trip will help me to decide which resort, length of stay, ticket options and any Magic Your Way Package inclusions such as Disney's Dining Plan.  Since you already know you are going in August, be check the special offers page often to see the promotions Disney is offering for the dates of your visit.  If you haven't picked a resort yet, I highly recommend Disney's Art of Animation. This resort is amazing and offers the largest pool on Disney property.Next decide on your ticket options, remember the more days you buy the less the cost is per a day.Park Hopper and Water Park Fun & More are two options that are great if you plan on visiting more than one park a day or one of the two water parks. I suggest you wait to add them once you arrive, unless you are certain you will use them.

Now take a look at what the crowds will be like during your vacation, touringplans.com is a wonderful site that has a crowd calendar and best parks to visit on which days.Once you know what parks you will be at on which days, it is time to decide on dining. The character meals are very popular so I highly recommend that you make reservations well in advance.  Your daughter will be enamored eating her meals with her favorite princesses.  To keep all of my dining reservations organized, I simply use spread sheets to record the date, time, place and confirmation number.

I hope this helps get you started and please don't hesitate to ask us as many questions as you need to plan your perfect Walt Disney World vacation!

    Best Wishes!
