My daughter is about to turn 1. each kid we usually take 1 year old portraits. Now I dabble in photography and would like to attempt to take them at Disney! Do you have any scenic suggestions? A beautiful place in the park/hotel that is low in traffic?

    Hi Elizabeth,

I love seeing questions from fellow NJ moms, so thank you for asking me! There are so many wonderful places to take your princess's one year old portrait; my head is spinning just thinking about them all. Of course, Magic Kingdom will yield lots of amazing backdrops for your girl's first portrait, whether you take it in front of Town Square or right in the middle of Main Street with Cinderella Castle in the background. One of my favorite places to take pictures is a small inlet that's actually located behind the castle, to the right. It's near the Castle Courtyard where the Fairy Godmother does her meet and greets, and only Disney enthusiasts in the know use that area for pictures and to watch the stage shows and to rest.

Another great place in Magic Kingdom for pictures would be in front of Prince Charming Regal Carrousel. If you go in the morning once the park opens, you'll be able to get your pictures taken when foot traffic is low. Just be sure to bring a blanket for your little one to sit on, since the ground will be wet due to the park cleaning that goes on before the Guests arrive.

Another great option is to take her portrait at one of the many Resort Hotels. The Grand Floridian and Disney's Boardwalk Inn both have amazing courtyards and grassy areas that are picture perfect. If you can, find a hidden mickey and incorporate that into the picture. It'll be a nice little nod to her first time at Walt Disney World.

I hope that answered your question, Elizabeth. If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask me at any time.

    Have a fantastical Disney day!
