My daughter will turn 1 during our visit to Disney and would love to do the cake smash by the castle so we can get her magical pictures. Is it possibles for us to do that? I would be taking the pictures.

    Hi Sandra!

I can't think of a better place to celebrate a birthday than at Walt Disney World Resort! What memories you'll make as your little princess celebrates her very first birthday at Magic Kingdom Park.

A smash cake is a fun tradition when celebrating a first birthday, and I think Cinderella Castle as a backdrop would be amazing! (Of course, you'll want to make sure you have a blanket for her to sit on to catch stray crumbs, and lots of baby wipes to clean her little hands and face!)

If I were to do a smash cake at Magic Kingdom, I'd handle it one of two ways:

    1) Make an Advance Dining Reservation at one of Magic Kingdom's table service restaurants and have a small Celebration Cake delivered, which I'd then box up to take outside for the photo. (Participating restaurants - Be Our Guest Restaurant, Cinderella's Royal Table, The Crystal Palace, The Diamond Horseshoe, Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen, Liberty Tree Tavern, The Plaza Restaurant, Tony's Town Square Restaurant)
    2) Purchase a fabulous cupcake in Magic Kingdom Park to use for the smash cake photos. (Cupcakes can be found at Main Street Bakery/Starbucks, Big Top Treats, and Main Street Confectionery)

To find out more about ordering a specialty Celebration Cake, you can make a dining reservation and request a cake by calling (407) WDW-DINE or (407) 939-3463. Don't forget to stop by The Chapeau on Main Street, U.S.A. for a pint-sized set of embroidered Mickey Ears for the birthday girl!

A great location for the photo would be the fenced in garden area in front of The Crystal Palace Restaurant, but please be aware that the area is sometimes closed off for special events.

I hope this information is helpful, and that your little one has the most magical birthday ever. Have a Disney-riffic day! - Diane W.
