Hi there!
Welcome to planDisney! It sounds like you have such a special trip coming up!
I want to start by saying that without knowing many details about your trip, I’ll go over the basics on how I plan my family’s park day, but feel free to come back and visit us with any follow-up questions you have if you want more personalized advice.
First things first, make sure you have the
My Disney Experience app downloaded prior to your trip. This will be your hub for everything during the planning phase and on your park day. I recommend that each adult have their own
My Disney Experience account, but just have one adult manage your great-grandson’s account if he’s a minor.
Once all the accounts are created, you can connect everyone via the
Family & Friends List, so everyone can see the plans for the day. Also, make sure to link your
park tickets to your account ahead of time.
Depending on your ticket type, you may be visiting one park or multiple parks. I always start off by
picking which park(s) we’ll be going to, then I make a must-see list and a nice-to-see list. For our must-see list, I choose 3-5 attractions as our priorities. Then, once we have those attractions covered, I look at how our nice-to-see list can fit into the day.
You can find a list of the attractions at each park by clicking the Map icon at the bottom of your My Disney Experience app, then clicking Attractions at the top of the screen. You can filter by park to narrow things down and click Show List at the bottom right corner of the screen for a more straightforward view.
I would also recommend booking one
table-service restaurant on your park day. Not only will it be guaranteed time that you’ll get out of the heat, but it’s a great time to regroup and figure out plans for the rest of your day if you need to pivot.
One other thing to think about as you plan: Lightning Lanes!
Lightning Lane services allow you to skip the standby queues and get to the attraction faster. These come at an extra cost, but it's always so worth it for us when we’re at Disney World with our boys! It really makes us feel more productive.
You can book and purchase your Lightning Lane services in advance (pending availability) from the homepage of your My Disney Experience app. If you’re staying at a
Disney World resort or select good neighbor hotel, your Lightning Lane booking window will open at 7 AM Eastern, 7 days prior to your resort check-in date. And if you’re staying off property, your booking window will open at 7 AM Eastern, 3 days prior to the start date of your ticket for date-based tickets.
I hope that gives you some guidance! Again, if you have any follow-up questions, don’t hesitate to reach back out. I hope you have an incredible time with your great-grandson!
