My daughter 7, son, 10 and I will be visiting Jan 21, 2011- Jan 25. I'm not sure what to do about dining reservations? We are staying at Holiday Inn in Downtown Disney and plan to to go to 3 parks. Do you make dinner reservations at each park?

Hi, Heather! Your Walt Disney World vacation is so close you can almost touch it! I know you're getting excited, and you definitely need to call 407-WDW-DINE or go online to Advanced Dining Reservations (ADRs) to get your dining plans settled very soon.

ADRs are for table-service restaurants throughout the property -- in the parks, resorts and other areas such as Downtown Disney.  Our family normally will check out the entertainment schedule and park hours first to get an idea of what days we'd like to visit each park.  Then, I outline those plans and notes on a daily schedule when I call or go online for dining reservations.  With ADRs available up to 180 days in advance, some guests have made their reservations several months ago.  Therefore, don't be too discouraged if many of the most popular choices are already booked.

For us, we like to book one sit-down meal per day either in the park we're visiting that day or in a resort nearby.  For instance, if you were going to the Magic Kingdom and found that all the table-service restaurants there were booked for your preferred times...try for "off" times such as a late lunch or early dinner or perhaps a nice spot nearby such  as The Wave at The Contemporary.

Then, when your ADRs are planned, you can design your days around your dining and fill in with quick-service meals or snacks.  I hope this helps you plan. Come back if you have more questions. Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation!
