Hi Jodie!
I am down for anything that involves cake and the
Cake Decorating Experience at Amorette's Patisserie is so much fun! I visited
Walt Disney World with a few fellow Disney Parks Moms Panelists for a girls only trip just last month and the four of us attended this cake decorating class. We were given a ready made frosted dome cake and took turns pouring the glaze (my favorite part), painted the ears and buttons and then placed all the parts on the cake to make the classic red Mickey dome cake that you see in the photo of their website. We were also given samples of the layered cake we were decorating and frosting to try and were able to eat any leftover marshmallow fondant we had left.
It is artist's choice on Monday, Wednesday and Friday meaning it's your cake decorating instructor's choice and we were told that the choice for the following week would be the Mickey Ice Cream Bar Cake that looks like a Mickey ice cream bar with a bite taken out of one of the ears. This particular cake features chocolate chiffon, milk chocolate mousse and ice cream vanilla mousse. A quick Google search will show you what this particular one looks like. You bet I took out my phone to see if there were any available spots left to make this cake the next week, but sadly it was full. So while you don't get to choose which cake you'll be decorating, it could range from any of the characters or a seasonal cake like the Mickey Ice Cream Bar Cake. I tried giving the shop a call to check on the artist's choice cake for your week, but kept reaching their answering machine. If you'd like to give them a call, you can reach Amorette's Patisserie at (407) 934-3500 and leave a message for a call back if no one picks up.
When you are all done decorating, you have the chance to purchase any of the sweet treats Amorette's Patisserie has to offer before the store opens to the public. I had a Pina Colada Creme Brulee from Amorette's last week and it was amazing! If you'll be doing any shopping or dining at
Disney Springs after your class, you can leave your decorated cake and any purchases at the shop and pick them up later in the day because you'll need to keep them cool. We headed to
Chef Art Smith's Homecomin' for brunch afterwards for some southern fried chicken. These dome cakes will fit in the fridge of your Walt Disney World Resort hotel room or you can store them at Bell Services to be refrigerated.
I hope you and your daughter have an amazing time and not only enjoy decorating your cake, but eating it too!
Have a magical day!
Leslie
