My daughter is really afraid of scary or even a little scary things. Does Disney regulate the costumes that are worn by guests?

    Hi Melissa!

Normally only guests nine years old and under are permitted to wear costumes in the parks of Walt Disney World.  There are only two events during the year where guests older than nine years old are allowed to wear a costume in the parks of Walt Disney.  The first is during Star Wars Weekends in Hollywood Studios which typically occurs in May and June of each year.  The other time is at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party which is a hard ticket event in the Magic Kingdom that is typically held in September and October each year.  When children wear costumes in the parks, they typically are the Princess or Pirate variety which are not too scary.  I was at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party last fall and most of the guest costumes where not scary, but there were some ghosts, Disney villains, and pirates.  Disney does have rules for these special evens such as no masks that cover the whole face. From my experience, I don't see your daughter having any issues on a typical day in a park at Walt Disney World.

I hope that your next vacation in Walt Disney World is truly amazing and even magical!
