My daughter and I are planning to run the Princess 5k and are debating the 10k or the half. She is worried that we will get swept toward the end of the 1/2 and won't earn her medal. Is there a policy regarding # of miles completed to earn the medal?

    Hi Stephanie!

Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

There isn't a policy that states you have to run a certain number of miles to get the race medal.  All participants, even when they are swept from the course, will be  given the opportunity to receive a medal. RunDisney race officials realize that some days just don't go as planned and the entire process is handled with grace and respect.

You guys still have plenty of time to train! I suggest training at a 15-minute mile pace (or faster) for your race.  This gives you a little bit of a cushion for any bathroom breaks and/or photo stops.  The closer to the front of your corral you can get, the better. The pacers will begin after the very last runner, so you can get a head start on them by being toward the front.

Be sure to check out runDisney's official trainer, Jeff Galloway, and his race training plans.  I think if you follow these, you will be just fine!

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any other questions.
