If my daughter would like pictures with the lanterns but my son will want to see Hoop Dee Doo on the same day what would be the best time to schedule the show, when do we leave MK, and is it possible to see fireworks too?

    Hi Bridgett,

Thanks for coming to planDisney for our advice on making the most of this very special day together! YOU are the magic for being such a thoughtful mama to both your daughter and son in granting their every wish with your vacation plans. I love thinking through the logistics of a practically perfect Disney day, so let’s see what’s possible for you.

The Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue is such an unforgettable experience! I suggest you try to get reservations for the 4:00 P.M. show if possible. 6:15 P.M. would be a good alternative if the early show isn’t available. You could enjoy a theme park and even take a mid-day rest or pool time at your resort. The reservation time is when the doors open at Pioneer Hall, so I suggest you plan to arrive at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort about thirty minutes before then to check in. There’s a fun shop while you wait, or drinks are available for purchase as you queue up outside. Once the doors open, you’ll be welcomed with traditional hospitality and a feast for all your senses! The endless, delicious dinner will fill you up and the incredible entertainment will make you laugh ‘til you cry but also warm your heart.

I’ve found the Minnie Van Service to be the most efficient way to navigate to Pioneer Hall from any location at the Walt Disney World Resort. If you don’t take a mid-day break and come directly from Magic Kingdom Park, you can enjoy a relaxing boat ride across to Fort Wilderness. There’s a handy transportation feature within the My Disney Experience App to help navigate your way from any location around the Walt Disney World Resort. The easiest way is to search for “Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue” and select the Get Directions tile on that page to view options and timing.

After the show, you can take that same boat back to Magic Kingdom Park in time for the evening festivities! I adore the nighttime atmosphere there, and you should be able to get your daughter’s photo with the lanterns and see fireworks. In fact, standing near the lanterns surrounding the restrooms in the Tangled themed area of Fantasyland is an amazing vantage point for any nighttime spectacular!

I hope this eases your mind and helps you envision how to make this day amazing for everyone in your family, Bridgett! Please swing by planDisney anytime you need some more heartfelt advice from our special team of “been there, done that” fellow Disney Guests!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
